If the connection won't establish

  1. Change the location. The first thing to do in most cases.
  2. Check whether there's a second VPN profile. Settings → VPN. Profiles from previously installed services remain in the system and conflict with the active one.
  3. Turn off Low Power Mode. It limits background activity, and the connection can drop.
  4. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile internet. This immediately shows whether the network is the issue.
  5. Restart the iPhone. It clears stuck network states.

Common questions about iPhone

The VPN icon is lit, but sites won't open. The profile is active, but traffic isn't flowing — that's a separate situation, most often fixed by changing the location. There's a detailed breakdown in a separate article.

The VPN turns off by itself. Usually Low Power Mode or switching between networks is to blame. Check that the app is allowed background activity.
