VolnaLink VPN

Why Telegram is not working and what to do

If Telegram will not open, first check whether the problem repeats on another device and on another network. If the service does not work on several networks at once, an outage on Telegram's side is possible. If Telegram works over mobile internet but will not open over Wi-Fi, check your home network, the router, DNS and the connection at the provider. A VPN helps only with network restrictions and does not fix outages of Telegram itself.

The order in a minute

  1. Turn off Wi-Fi on the phone and check Telegram over the mobile network.
  2. If Telegram works, restart the home router and repeat the check over Wi-Fi.
  3. If Telegram does not work on any network, check the service on another device and try again later.
  4. If you are using a VPN, make sure the public IP has changed and that the Telegram app is not excluded from the VPN tunnel.
  5. If the restriction persists only on the home network, use a system VPN app on the device you need. Setting up a VPN on the router is not necessary.

Why a browser extension does not affect the Telegram app

A VPN extension routes through the secure connection only the traffic of the browser it is installed in. It does not affect the desktop Telegram app, voice calls or file downloads inside the app. For the Telegram client use the VolnaLink system app.

VolnaLink for Telegram

For Telegram use the VolnaLink system app for Windows, Android or iOS. Choose the nearest available location, connect and check the public IP. You can download the right version on the devices page. A separate plan for Telegram is not required.
